All About Matcha

Matcha has been enjoyed for centuries, but not all matcha is the same. At Metolius Tea, we source Organic Matcha Konomi, a rare autumn-harvested matcha from Kagoshima, Japan, designed to be smooth, vibrant, and easy to use—no special whisks or bowls required.

What Makes Organic Matcha Konomi Special?

Unlike most matcha, which is harvested in spring and summer, our matcha comes from Kagoshima’s autumn harvest. The region’s warm, humid climate allows for a longer growing season, resulting in:

  • A naturally smoother taste with a soft mouthfeel

  • A deep green color from careful shading before harvest

  • An ultra-fine texture from precise stone grinding

This matcha is traditionally known as Konomi, meaning “practice”—a step below ceremonial grade, but still incredibly high quality. Many brands mislabel non-ceremonial matcha as “ceremonial grade,” but we aim for transparency in every cup.

Health Benefits of Matcha

Incorporating matcha into your daily routine offers several health advantages:

  • Rich in Protective Polyphenols: Matcha is abundant in polyphenols, which help protect the body against disease and support overall health.

  • Boosts Brain Health and Alertness: The natural combination of caffeine and L-theanine enhances focus, memory, and reaction time while preventing the jittery crash of coffee.

  • Promotes Relaxation and Stress Relief: L-theanine helps reduce stress while maintaining alertness, making matcha a calming yet energizing choice.

How to Enjoy Matcha Every Day

Metolius matcha is easy to prepare and incredibly versatile. Try it in:

  • The perfect matcha latte – Hot or iced, with your favorite milk.
